OUR SCHOOL DAY

Coming to School

The lessons start at 10:30am, children are to be dropped off to their teachers by 10:25am. Class will be on every Saturday during term time only (this excludes half term and seasonal breaks). A list of dates for the whole year will be sent out at the beginning of the year, and reminders of these dates will be around the corridors, Insha’Allah.

Parents are asked to be punctual as latecomers will disrupt the whole class, and potentially miss out on important morning announcements and information.

What You Will Need To Bring

Children will be required to bring a book back to carry their homework folder and books. These will need to be big enough to fit an A4 sized flat folder, plus some small books. There will be a 15-minute break during the day, it is recommended that a snack is brought in for this (please no full lunch meals as this may not be finished in 15 minutes).

Dropping Off & Picking up

All children are to be dropped off with their class teachers and escorted to their classrooms. At home time, children are to be picked up at the drop off and collection point where the class teacher will be present to supervise the handing over of children. If anyone other than the parent is to collect your child from school, we must be told in advance as we do not hand children to people who are unknown to us.

If you have any queries or matters you would like to discuss with the teacher, you are most welcome to do so when picking up your child. Please be patient when wishing to do so, as the safe hand over of children is the first and foremost concern at that time.

We employ modern teaching methods

Homework

Your child will be expected to complete homework and you will be encouraged to participate in this by commenting in the homework log. These serve as a two-way communication between yourself and teachers. Parents should sign them on a regular basis to confirm that the child is doing some work and revision of the lesson outside of NHIS. Your child will need to revise their Qur’an lesson and memorisation at home. This is very important to allow a progressive pace of development in their reading.

Absence

If your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. If for any reason your child cannot attend, contact the school by 10:15am. We stress that your child must attend NHIS regularly and unnecessary absences are not acceptable. If your child is absent from school for one month without any contact from you, their name will be taken off our records. If you wish to return, the process of registering again will be required, along with the payment of the registration fee. This is provided that there is a space for your child.

Dress Code

Your child is expected to dress modestly. We encourage older girls to wear headscarves. However please make sure they are comfortable, including footwear. No designer wear, or fancy clothes should be worn as there will always be messy work in the school. There is an exception for fancy clothes when we are celebrating Eid.

Fees

A non-refundable registration fee is £25 per child is applicable when registering. The term fee is £180 per student. Siblings will be granted a 10% discount.
